"The Body and Blood of Christ"... To Go

Okay, so I said I was going to blog again. I thought of all kinds of profound topics to reinaugurate it: resurrection of Jesus as God's laughter, the ambivalence I feel about praying for the troops in my church, my thoughts about an upcoming trip to South Africa, my eager anticipation of the April 4 restart of Battlestar Galactica, etc., etc. Well here's the first post, and I'm afraid it's none of those things.

That's awesome - and if it's already consecrated, then we can take it with us on road trips, airplanes, camping ... really, the possibilities are endless.

I love how it stays fresh without refrigerating for months!

Well, its nice to know there are 'pre-filled' cups, so we don't really need to say 'fill my cup Lord' or watch the wine be poured, or touch something somebody else has actually touched, or deal with all those other biblical imperatives. I was beginning to wax poetic in my polemicism upon arrival at the unbiblical site to which your directed us when I saw a notice about 'thin Bibles at half-price' which sent my weary. suggestible, post-Easter, priest's brain in even less helpful directions. Actually why bother with actual food at all at the Eucharist--why not just 'think about it' (and not in church, but in fron of or laptops wherever we might be!!) like Zwinglian Zombies--hey, hey not bad: post-modern allieration after Easter.

Thanks, Paul. I particularly like the "camouflage Bible cover" that this company sells. It's the best rendition of the protestant "invisible church" idea I can think of.

What I want is a set of camo-vestments, sigh. Paul, did you know that Christian Scientists, whom God amend, do in fact just "sit and think about it"?????

It makes it seem rather disposable and convenient. What does it say about communion itself? I don't believe that communion is there for convenience sake.
